Go Girl! Engineering Sleepover

This event is soldout. Check back later we may have more events suitable to your child.

Let's have fun with engineering, all while making memories at the University of Kentucky!

Girls grades 3-6 and their mothers or other female role models are invited to Go Girl!, UK Engineering's first-ever engineering sleepover for girls. This year's event is sponsored by the Power and Energy Institute of Kentucky (PEIK). During this special, overnight event, you'll even spend the night in a new University of Kentucky residence hall, Woodland Glen III, specifically used to house UK Engineering students!

The Go Girl! Engineering Sleepover is a new event hosted by the University of Kentucky Women in Engineering (WIE) Program. Go Girl! allows for young girls to enter a supportive environment to explore engineering opportunities while guardians receive empowering information on how to support their daughter as she discovers a new academic world. Together, we will do hands-on engineering activities, letting our imaginations and creativity shine through while enjoying the guidance of female engineering role models.

Our goal for this event is to increase girls’ confidence in playing an active role in how engineering and technology affect our everyday lives, and to increase the confidence of mothers as they prepare to be role models to their daughter in STEM education. Girls should leave this event with a basic understanding of what engineering is, what engineers do, and some of the incredible opportunities that await them in the world of STEM.

The $60 registration fee covers the cost for one mother/daughter pair. One additional sister can be added for an extra $20. All tickets include food, activities, overnight accommodations including linens, and a t-shirt for all participants. Each attendee must have purchased a ticket to participate.

Need-based scholarships are available upon request. Please email Micaha Hughes at micahardean@uky.edu to request an application.
