Clark Graves has 27 years of experience in transportation research and technology exchange at the Center. In his current role as associate director, he oversees research in the areas of Pavement Materials and Geotech, Bridge Preservation, Structures, and Construction Management. Dr. Graves specializes in Pavement design, evaluation, and maintenance and rehabilitation. He has worked with NCHRP to create an innovative approach to Empirical Pavement Design. Currently, he is leading the development of Kentucky’s strategic plan for streamlining the implementation of the Mechanistic Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG). Dr. Graves has worked with the Southeast Transportation Consortium to put the use of Warm Mix Asphalt into practice and he is a member of the Transportation Research Board Committee on Flexible Pavement Design. Dr. Graves holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky. He is a Professional Engineer and a Professional Geologist in the state of Kentucky.
