Each year, the F. Joseph Halcomb III, M.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering recognizes an Outstanding Teacher, an Outstanding Graduate Student in the Doctoral program and an Outstanding Graduate Student in the Masters program. The teacher awardee was selected via blind voting by the BME graduate students and BME minor students, and the graduate student awardees were selected by the BME faculty, also via blind voting. This year, Dr. David Pienkowski was selected to receive the Outstanding Teacher Award, Siavash Mazdeyasna to receive the Outstanding Student Award in the Doctoral program and Matt Ballard to receive the Outstanding Graduate Student Award in the Masters program. Winners were recognized at the 2019 Tau Beta Pi Award Ceremony on April 9. In the photo shown nearby, department chair Dr. Guigen Zhang honors the three winners.
