The Gates Scholarship
The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, full scholarship for exceptional, Pell-eligible, minority, high school seniors. Starting in 2018, the scholarship will be awarded to 300 top student leaders each year with the intent of promoting their academic excellence through college graduation and providing them the opportunity to reach their full potential. Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance* that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
*Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation, and may include other personal costs.

Ron Brown Scholars Program
The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans. RBSP competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship – the four pillars of the late Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicities – especially our disadvantaged youth. Applicants for the Ron Brown Scholarship MUST be graduating high school seniors at the time of their application. For more on scholarship conditions click here: Ron Brown Scholarship Conditions. The final application deadline is January 9th each year.

Hagan Foundation Scholarship
The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship for high achieving, self-motivated students. These students will graduate from a public high school located in a county having fewer than 50,000 residents. Hagan Scholars currently attend one hundred ninety-four colleges and universities including The University of Kentucky. Students MUST be a student in a high school graduating class to apply.

Vanguard Women in Information Technology Scholarship
The Vanguard Women in Information Technology Scholarship Program provides merit-based scholarships of up to $10,000 to female students entering their junior or senior year of college. The program's goal is to remove financial barriers for female students who demonstrate academic excellence and are pursuing studies in computer science, computer engineering, web design or other IT-related disciplines. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Buildium’s Build U Scholarship

As members of the tech community, we also believe that the best engineers, designers, and developers define themselves by the above values. This is why we award one $2,500 scholarship each semester to a student who tells us about a company they admire that exemplifies any of the above core values.

Society of Women Engineers
SWE Scholarships support women pursuing ABET-accredited bachelor or graduate student programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science in the United States.

NAWIC Founders' Scholarship Foundation
The NAWIC Founders’ Scholarship Foundation (NFSF) was established in 1963 by NAWIC to assist in providing the construction industry with trained employees through higher education. Construction is the only industry that encompasses almost every professional discipline. Literally every career sector is available to you: trades, project management, administrative, legal, financial, insurance, business owner…the list is virtually endless. Once someone decides on a career in construction, they then have to find ways to pay for their education. The NAWIC Founders Scholarship Foundation (NFSF) is here to help. Each year we are pleased to award over $25,000 to worthy recipients in construction-related programs.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. The Institute of International Education has administered the program since its inception in 2001.

Toyota/SAE Engineering Scholarship
The Toyota/SAE Engineering Scholarship was established by Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America for University of Kentucky students with the mission of supporting and nurturing students' enthusiasm for science and technology education, building bridges between corporations, individuals and classrooms. SAE will award one $2,000 scholarship each year to a student enrolled in the University of Kentucky College of Engineering.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Scholarships
Scholarships actualize each of SHPE’s mission’s components by increasing student access and support to higher education in STEM programs. Our aim is to bridge the disparities in STEM degrees between Hispanics and their non-Hispanic counterparts. With over 10,000 active members including over 8,000 student members, SHPE serves 178 students and 54 professional chapters. Our primary goal in scholarships is to fill the gap in the Hispanic education pipeline from K-12 education to successful career placement as well as advanced degree offerings in STEM fields.

The Google Lime Scholarship
At Google, we believe information should be universally accessible. Our education and scholarship programs aim to inspire and help students become future leaders in computing and technology by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from entering these fields.

The Generation Google Scholarship was established to help aspiring computer scientists excel in technology and become leaders in the field. Selected students will receive $10,000 for the school year. As part of the scholarship, current high school seniors who are entering their first year of university will be required to attend Google’s Computer Science Summer Institute (CSSI) in the summer prior to the start of their Freshman year. Current undergraduate or graduate students will be invited to attend the Google Scholars’ Retreat in the summer before their award year.

Milliman Opportunity Scholarship
The scholarship assists undergraduate students from ethnic groups that are under-represented in the fields of actuarial science, data science, computer science, economics, programming, mathematics, statistics, data analytics, or finance.

Women in Aviation International
Scholarship awards are a major benefit of membership in Women in Aviation International. In the past 20 years, WAI has disbursed more than $10 million to its members to help them reach their goals and advance into the aviation and aerospace careers they have always dreamed about.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Civil Engineering Scholarship
Currently, there are 80 scholarship openings each year and they are filled with returning students and new students. KYTC awards 10-20 scholarships to new students each year who are either attending or planning to attend the University of Kentucky (UK), Western Kentucky University (WKU), or University of Louisville J. B. Speed School of Engineering (UofL) to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE). Students may also attend pre-engineering courses at Kentucky State University (KSU), Kentucky Community and Technical College System, or other Kentucky state colleges or universities, and then finish their Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering at UK, WKU, or UofL.

The deadline is February 1.

National Society of Black Engineers
The association, established in 1975, provides numerous scholarships each year to qualified students majoring in engineering and science areas.

George M. Binder – KSPE Scholarship
The Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers is offering a $2,500, one-time scholarship to one college student that meets the eligibility requirements described within the application.

Applications are available each year in January with a March deadline.

Association of Dam Safety Scholarship
Scholarships have ranged from $5,000 to $10,000 in recent years. Successful recipients must be U.S. citizens and enrolled full-time at the senior level for the award year in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams.

Xerox Minority Scholarship
Xerox is committed to the academic success of all minority students. That’s why we offer a Technical Minority Scholarship that awards between $1,000 and $10,000 to qualified minorities enrolled in a technical degree program at the bachelor level or above.

Women Techmakers Scholars Program
Through the Women Techmakers Scholars Program - formerly the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Program - Google is furthering Dr. Anita Borg’s vision of creating gender equality in the field of computer science by encouraging women to excel in computing and technology and become active leaders and role models in the field.

Women Techmakers Scholars will each receive $10,000 USD for the academic year. A group of female undergraduate and graduate students will be chosen from the applicant pool, and scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate's academic background and demonstrated leadership and impact on the community. All scholarship recipients will be invited to attend the annual Google Scholars' Retreat in Mountain View, California in 2018 to connect with fellow scholars, network with Googlers and participate in a number of development workshops.

ARTBA Scholarships and Awards
The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) was established in 1902 by Michigan public official Horatio Earle with this express purpose: to advocate for construction of a federally-led “Capital Connecting Government Highway” that he said would connect “every state capital with every other state capital, and every capital with the United States Capital—Washington.” Their site offers a list of various scholarships and awards, including some specifically for women.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides a multi-faceted experience designed to not only address the financial needs of minority students who aspire to attend college but also to guide them through the process of higher education.

Career One Stop is an online source for career exploration, training and jobs. Their site offers a nation-wide scholarship search tool. Visit the site to access their list of over 600 Engineering specific awards.

AffordableColleges.com is a site dedicated to helping students avoid student loan debt. Their Affordability Center includes links for Diversity Scholarships, scholarships for women, financial aid guides, and more.

CodeWizardsHQ Educational Scholarship
CodeWizardsHQ offers live, online coding classes for kids that are taught by developers with tech industry experience who use structured, comprehensive curriculums to help kids master programming skills in a fun, exploratory environment.
