Energy Audit Program

Energy efficiency and renewable energies are in great focus in today's world with many global and national factors affecting our energy resources. These issues are changing the way we think about energy and the environment, and prompting change in the way of life for many rural communities across the state. With the rising costs of energy and production in agriculture today, we are faced with remarkable opportunities to develop and implement efficient systems on the farm to meet today's energy challenges.

Increasing Kentucky's on-farm energy efficiency simply makes sense by both helping the environment and saving money. Our department has been providing energy audits in conjunction with the REAP Energy Audit Program for several years.

REAP Energy Audit Program

The USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) provides assistance to agricultural producers and small, rural businesses for purchasing and implementing energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy systems. Funding is available to supplement the initial purchase of a system and to cover part of the energy audit. For more information contact sam.mcneill@uky.edu.

The REAP program does not cover residential homes.
