UK Students to Livestream August Eclipse as Part of National Project

team of University of Kentucky students, led by College of Engineering Professor Suzanne Smith, is preparing to launch two high-altitude weather balloons on Aug. 21 as part of a nationwide, NASA-sponsored project to livestream footage of the 2017 total solar eclipse.

Formula Kentucky Team Competes at Michigan International Speedway

Formula Kentucky, the University of Kentucky’s Formula Society of Automotive Engineers Team, competed in the Formula SAE® Michigan competition held at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan, May 10-13. Its appearance marked the second year in a row in which UK has participated in the event. Thirteen team members made the trip.


Doerge and Creech Win 2017 Staff Excellence Awards

This fall, Jennifer Doerge was recognized for her excellence as the Institution Staff of the Month from the (NRHH) National Residence Hall Honorary. Jamie Creech recieved a Staff Excellence Award, non-exempt category.


Chen Receives $100,000 Grant for Nanoscale Materials & Sensors Research

A startup company, Advanced Semiconductor Processing Technology (ASPT), LLC, has awarded an $80,000 grant to Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Zhi David Chen for research at the University of Kentucky on novel perovskite solar cells.


Jawahir Named University Research Professor

The purpose of the University Research Professorship program is to recognize and publicize research accomplishments of scholars across the full range of disciplines at UK. The award amount is $10,000 for one year, to be used to further the research, scholarship and creative endeavors of the awardee.


UK Recognizes 2017 Outstanding Teaching Awards

The University of Kentucky recognized exceptional faculty and teaching assistants at the Outstanding Teaching Awards at the 2017 University of Kentucky Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 25, in Woodward Hall of the Gatton College of Business and Economics building. Recipients of the inaugural Inclusive Excellence Awards, in partnership with the Office for Institutional Diversity were also recognized.
