Isabel Escobar, professor of chemical engineering in the University of Kentucky College of Engineering, was featured in the Summer 2016 issue of Association for Women in Science (AWIS) magazine. Escobar is a longstanding member of AWIS and a photo of her with students from her laboratory is the cover photo for the issue.
In the article, Escobar discusses her take on the ubiquitous word “community.” She describes community using three words: collaboration, mentoring and support. In addition, Escobar shares her passion for clean water research and how women in science and engineering can make a difference by involving themselves in such global challenges.
