Diane Mier and Nick Cprek Win Staff Excellence Awards

The awards recognize one exempt and one non-exempt staff member who demonstrate exemplary ability and outstanding performance in their respective positions and who contribute to the overall success of the College. 

Diane Mier and Nick Cprek were winners of College of Engineering Staff Excellence Awards at a staff appreciation luncheon held at the Hilary J. Boone Center May 22, 2019. The awards recognize one exempt and one non-exempt staff member who demonstrate exemplary ability and outstanding performance in their respective positions and who contribute to the overall success of the College. 

Mier is an administrative coordinator in the Department of Computer Science. She brings energy, enthusiasm and experience to her work every day, and has done that consistently during more than 30 years of service to the department. She rarely exhibits anything but a positive attitude, and performs her job duties at the highest level of productivity. Mier is the extremely rare and valuable staff member who has sustained her productive and energetic approach to her work, and as a result is a central pillar of support for faculty, staff and students. 

Cprek is a research facility manager for the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering. He is an outstanding asset to the department and the College. Cprek is highly skilled, resourceful, remarkably dedicated, consistently professional, positive in his work and an exceptional College citizen. He has had an enormous impact on CME’s programs over the last three years, working closely with faculty and students to significantly improve the department’s facilities and enhance the quality and success of its research. 

Seventeen College staff members received nominations for the awards.
