Lu Elected ASME Fellow

The ASME Committee of Past Presidents confers the Fellow grade of membership on worthy candidates to recognize their outstanding engineering achievements.

Y. Charles Lu, Ph.D., P.E., H.E. Katterjohn Professor in Engineering of the University of Kentucky College of Engineering Extended Campus at Paducah, was recently named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The ASME Committee of Past Presidents confers the Fellow grade of membership on worthy candidates to recognize their outstanding engineering achievements.

An ASME member of 17 years, Lu’s professional career has been distinguished by honors in research, education and practical engineering in the areas of design and fundamental mechanics of polymers and composite materials. Lu has edited ten books, authored over 150 journal or conference publications and is a recipient of the prestigious SAE Excellence in Engineering Education Award (2017), the SAE Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award (2010) and the Dana Engineering Achievement Award (2004), among others.

Lu joined the College of Engineering Extended Campus at Paducah in 2006.
