Matthew Morse, a senior chemical engineering major and theatre minor, had his play, “Treatment,” selected as part of the National Playwriting Program for presentation at the 2021 Region 4 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

During the festival, which took place February 4-7, Morse collaborated with a team from universities across the region on a production of his play. At the end of the festival, his play was selected as one of two plays from Region 4 and one of 16 plays from the country to be a national semi-finalist in the Kennedy Center's 10-minute play program.

The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival National Playwriting Program is dedicated to supporting student playwrights in the development of their original work for the stage, with dramaturgical and performance opportunities that emphasize respect of the written word and for the playwright’s contribution to the theatrical process.

Morse researched polymeric drug delivery complexes under Professor Thomas Dziubla through undergraduate research and UK’s Engineered Bioactive Interfaces and Devices REU program. Morse spent a year in Marathon Petroleum Corporation's Co-op program; he has also interned at Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation.
