Nikiforos Stamatiadis Receives Two New Grants

The two awards were granted by the Transportation Research Board of the National Academy of Science.

Nikiforos Stamatiadis, Raymond-Blythe Professor in the University of Kentucky Department of Civil Engineering, has received two new awards from the Transportation Research Board of the National Academy of Science.

The first grant, “Identification of AASHTO Context Classification,” will provide roughly $300,000 over 18 months. That project includes Adam Kirk, adjunct assistant professor and research engineer in the Kentucky Transportation Center, as co-PI.

The second grant, “Aligning Geometric Design Controls, Criteria and Elements with Roadway Context, Modal Priority and Functional Classification,” will provide approximately $90,000. That project is being conducted with transportation engineering consulting firm Kittelson & Associates Inc.

Stamatiadis has taught at UK since 1990.
