GENI Workshop and Summer Camp to be Held at UK

Registration is open for the Global Environment for Network Innovations (GENI) Regional Workshop and Summer Camp 2018 at the University of Kentucky. The regional workshop will take place on May 14 and the summer camp on May 15-18.


University of Illinois’ Sanders to Deliver Final Distinguished Lecture on Cybersecurity

The last talk in the Department of Computer Science's Distinguished Lecture Series on Cybersecurity will be delivered by Professor William H. Sanders from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on Monday, April 16, 2018. 


RescUKats win Spring 2018 Eastern Collegiate Mine Rescue Competition

The RescUKats, the University of Kentucky Mine Rescue Team, won the Spring 2018 Eastern Collegiate Mine Rescue Competition. The competition was hosted by the Ohio State Division of Mines at their training grounds in Cadiz, Ohio April 6-7.


Seales Featured on "60 Minutes"

On April 1, "60 Minutes" aired a story that featured the research of W. Brent Seales called "The Scrolls of Herculaneum." The segment discussed the history of the Herculaneum library and Seales' recent success virtually unwrapping a burned 1,700-year old scroll of the biblical book of Leviticus.


Harik Recipient of 2018 SEC Faculty Achievement Award

Congratulations to Raymond‐Blythe Professor of Civil Engineering Issam Harik on being named a recipient of the 2018 SEC Faculty Achievement Award! The awards honor one individual from each SEC university who has excelled in teaching and research.


Jacobs Receives Google Research Award

Nathan Jacobs, associate professor in the Department of Computer Science, has received a Google Faculty Research Award to continue his work on relating ground-level and overhead views of the same location. This is Jacobs’ second Google Faculty Research Award.


Three Students Win Presentation Awards at Kentucky Water Resources Symposium

Three University of Kentucky College of Engineering students received awards at the 2018 Kentucky Water Resources Annual Symposium. The event took place on March 19 and was held at the Marriott Griffin Gate in Lexington.


Baker presenting at the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) National Convention to help graduate students succeed

Corey Baker, assistant professor in Computer Science, will present a two-part workshop and panel titled, “Maximizing your PhD, preparing for academia or industry” at the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) National Convention in Pittsburgh, PA to current Ph.D., MS, and BS students.


Micaha Dean Hughes Wins Educator Award

Micaha Dean Hughes, assistant director of recruitment and female initiatives in the University of Kentucky College of Engineering, has received a 2018 Educator Award from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Aspirations in Computing Kentucky affiliate.


Induction into the Profession Ceremony Set for May 5

Graduating engineering and computer science seniors and graduate students are invited to the Induction into the Profession Ceremony Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Singletary Center for the Arts. Brunch at the Hilary J. Boone Center will immediately follow the conclusion of the program.
