Rob Beeler, BSME 1989, MSEE 1991

For over 30 years, Rob Beeler has provided strategic and technical leadership for software development organizations. A technological executive and entrepreneur, Beeler is currently chief technology officer and co-founder of Trava Security, a startup in the cybersecurity and cyber insurance space.

After completing his master’s degree in electrical engineering in 1991, Beeler spent four years as a project engineer at the Naval Air Warfare Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1995, he co-founded a company that later became Double-Take Software, which grew to over 400 people and went public in 2006. Double-Take Software was acquired by Vision Solutions in 2010.

Beeler joined Vision Solutions as vice president of engineering and took responsibility for a number of data replication, backup and transformation products. Carbonite purchased Double Take from Vision Solutions in 2017, and Beeler was a key member of the team leading the acquisition process. Beeler joined Carbonite as vice president of engineering, responsible for the company’s

server backup and replication products. In 2018, Beeler took over global engineering for Carbonite in the role of senior vice president of engineering and product. He managed a team of over 350 engineers across 14 sites around the world, with responsibility for all of Carbonite’s business and consumer products. Beeler served on the senior leadership team of Carbonite where he helped set the direction of the company.

When Canadian-based Open Text bought Carbonite near the end of 2019, Beeler operated as site leader for the company’s Boston location, as well as leader for the integration of the Carbonite engineering organization into Open Text. He remained senior vice president of engineering until May 2020, when he co-founded Trava Security.

As chief technological officer for Trava, Beeler is responsible for all technical aspects of the company, as well as its overall strategic leadership. Beeler has helped lead the company through three rounds of outside investment and developed partnerships with various security and insurance providers.

Since 2019, Beeler, a pancreatic cancer survivor, has participated in the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Indianapolis PurpleStride fundraising event. In 2022, he became a co-chair of the event with his wife, and they helped raise over $260,000 to advance scientific research and provide resources for patients, caregivers and medical professionals.

Beeler and his wife, Colleen, live in Carmel, Indiana. They have three adult children.
