Engineering Takes Flight!

Club Sports Field (Behind the UK Softball Stadium) 

The Kentucky Army National Guard will be landing BLACK HAWK utility helicopters on UK’s campus Friday, September 13 at the UK Club Sports Field.  The event, which is organized by the Engineering Living Learning Program, is free and open to the public.

Faculty members from the UK Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering’s new Aerospace Engineering program will also be displaying unmanned aerial vehicle technologies and sharing information about the new aerospace programs. UK has the only aerospace engineering program for undergraduate students in the state. 

Engineering student organizations will be participating in an involvement fair. 

The BLACK HAWK multirole helicopter serves with the U.S. military and the armed forces of 34 other countries worldwide as a tough, reliable utility helicopter

More than 4000 BLACK HAWK aircraft of all types are in service today.  BLACK HAWK aircraft can be outfitted to accomplish a variety of mission sets including Combat Assault, MEDEVAC, Aerial Firefighting, Search and Rescue, Air Lift, VIP transport, and Special Operations.

Parking
Visitor parking will be at the Soccer/Softball South Lot. From Alumni Drive take College Way to Wildcat Court. Continue past Kentucky Proud Park to the parking lot.

Landing Zone / Event Entrance
The UK Club Sports Field will serve as the landing zone for the event. It is located behind the UK Softball Stadium off Alumni Drive. Participants will need to sign a waiver to receive an armband for entry to the field.
