The Halcomb Family Endowed Fellowship in Medicine and Engineering was awarded to two graduate students in the Stanley and Pigman College of Engineering to incentivize the development of patient-centered clinical solutions that advance health care and improve patient outcomes.
Recipients are selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants by the dean of the Pigman College of Engineering, based on recommendations from a multidisciplinary advisory committee of research-active faculty. The fellowship includes an annual stipend of $30,000 (12-month duration) with the option of renewal for a second year.

The Halcomb Family Endowed Fellowship in Medicine and Engineering, established in 2009 through a generous gift from Dr. F. Joseph and Mrs. Joan Halcomb III, M.D., and Kentucky’s Research Challenge Trust Fund, honors the late Dr. Francis Joseph (“F.J.”) Halcomb, Jr., and the Halcomb family.
