The eight students, who represent the first class of Karen and Stanley Pigman Engineering Technology Scholars, will participate in the Engineering Living Learning Program (ELLP). As part of the ELLP the students have been assigned peer mentors who will guide them throughout the academic year.

“Thanks to the Pigman family, we are humbled to celebrate the many achievements this group of students will bring with them and look forward to seeing all they’ll accomplish,” said Kelsey Carew, student affairs officer in the Department of Engineering Technology. “On behalf of the entire staff, both at Bluegrass Community and Technical College and UK, we would like to congratulate this group of students and encourage them to hold on tight. This is just the beginning of what is sure to be the most adventurous ride of their life!”

The students have two academic pathways in the Engineering Technology Department. One leads to a Bachelor of Science in Lean Systems Engineering Technology, and the other leads to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology. Students begin each pathway at BCTC where they will receive an Associate of Applied Science in two years. Students will then work towards their Bachelor of Science degree at UK during the second two years.
