The University of Kentucky Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering has appointed Eric Sanders as its new director of marketing and communications.

Sanders most recently served as the college’s associate director of media production, a title promotion he received in 2022. From 2018 to 2022, Sanders held the title of Digital Media Production Manager. Over the last five years, Sanders has created, managed and developed all the college’s video production, photography and motion graphics.

Sanders has developed numerous promotional videos for the college and all of its departments. Most notably, the college’s most recent commercial, which won a gold ADDY award from the Ad Club of Lexington.

Over the years, Sanders has worked as an independent contractor in media production for a variety of clients, including television, film, music and corporate videos. Through his independent work, he has racked up approximately 300 professional production credits.

Prior to joining engineering, Sanders worked at the UK College of Arts & Sciences as the digital media production manager from 2016 to 2018. During this time, he was a recipient of a $10,000 Inclusive Excellence Grant to create an 8-minute documentary on campus diversity.

Sanders earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in media arts and studies from UK in 2015 and his Master of Science in instructional systems design in 2020.

“Eric is known by many for his great photography and videography, but he also brings to the position a comprehensive knowledge of the marketing and communications business, a professional network across and beyond campus, and natural leadership sensibilities,” said Rudy Buchheit, Dr. Rebecca Burchett Liebert Dean of the Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering. “I am looking forward to working with Eric in his new director role.”
