Afsaneh Mahanipour, a graduate student in the Pigman College of Engineering , was one of 30 scholars from across the nation selected as a 2025 Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Rising Star. Selected scholars attend the Rising Stars Workshop, hosted by Vanderbilt University. Mahanipour is a Ph.D. candidate in Department of Computer Science, under the supervision of Hana Khamfroush, Ph.D.
The University of Kentucky has been selected to lead a project with $2.3 million in funding over four years from the U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) to develop next-generation materials critical to commercializing fusion power.

Alexandra "Zan" Paterson, assistant professor with joint appointments in materials engineering and electrical engineering, recently co-authored, "Improved organic electrochemical transistor stability using solvent degassing and chemical doping," published in Nature Electronics, a monthly online journal from Nature that publishes original research in the field of electronics.
