Life As a Civil Engineering Student

As a student in our program, you will have the option to choose courses from eight technical areas. The curriculum offers further flexibility by allowing two technical design electives, a structure elective, a supportive elective and a technical elective.

Because civil engineers work with the general public to a much greater degree than other kinds of engineers, our program emphasizes internships and real-world experience. The civil engineering curriculum at UK builds communication abilities and seeks to graduate civil engineers who can effectively explain key concepts to the general public and take leadership roles in their communities.

How Much Could I Earn?

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that Civil engineers median pay is $95,890 with more than 341,000 jobs in the US. Job outlook is growing faster than average at 6%. Now is the perfect time to consider a career as a Civil Engineer. For more information visit the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics website.

Where You Can Work

Civil engineers are employed by the construction industry, engineering or architectural firms, utility companies, energy companies, telecommunications businesses, manufacturing companies, consulting firms, railroads and state and federal governmental agencies.
