Abby Phillips is originally from Ann Arbor, MI, and is majoring in Biosystems Engineering with a focus on biomedicine. She is a member of the Lewis Honors College in the Scholars in Engineering and Management (SEAM) Pathway. Abby is very involved in the College of Engineering, serving as the president of the Engineering Student Council and secretary for the Wildcat Pulling Team. Additionally, she is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Abby is also an Engineering Peer Mentor and an undergraduate researcher in the Advanced Diagnostics Lab, where she contributes to projects aimed at advancing healthcare technologies.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Abby works part-time in the Engineering Innovation Center as a prototyping guide. Her passion for engineering and building community has driven her interest in improving women's health outcomes in underprivileged communities. This has inspired Abby to pursue an PhD in bioengineering, with the goal of making a meaningful impact in biomedical research.
Outside of her academic and extracurricular activities, Abby enjoys kayaking, reading, exploring new coffee shops, and spending time with friends.
