David Parsley

Assistant Professor, Director of Undergraduate Study, Lean Systems Engineering Technology, Toyota Engineering Technology Faculty Fellow

David Parsley is an Assistant Professor in the Fujio Cho Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Kentucky. He also serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Lean Systems Engineering Technology degree for the department and has been appointed as a Toyota Engineering Technology Fellow.

David has earned three engineering degrees, a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, all from the University of Kentucky.

Before this role, David was an instructor for the Institute of Research for Technology Development (IR4TD) at the University of Kentucky as a member of the True Lean System team. During this time with IR4TD, he supported a variety of organizations in their development and application of standardization, operational problem solving, and model area development within their facilities. He was also responsible for facilitating the Lean Systems Certification, a core offering of the True Lean Systems Program.

Prior to joining the IR4TD True Lean team, he worked in mining/materials equipment manufacturing. During his time there, he assisted in the development of lean model areas within two manufacturing sites. At these sites, he was responsible for developing production layouts to support continuous flow throughout operations.
