John G. Parham II (JP) was hired as the Student Affairs Officer within the F. Joseph Halcomb III, M.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Kentucky’s College of Engineering in September of 2024.
JP joins Biomedical Engineering from Xavier University where he was the Assistant Director for the Kevin and Georgette Crawford Student-Athlete Academic Center working with an array of sport programs during his time there. During that time he implemented a guest coach campus relations program while spearheading departmental assessment, and sitting on numerus athletics and campus committees.
Previously, he served as the Academic Coordinator for the Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field programs for the Cox Communications Academic Center at Louisiana State University from 2016-20. Also serving on various committees within athletics, the academic center and on campus.
Prior to LSU, he operated as the Athletics Academic Service Assistant at the University of Kentucky’s Center for Academic and Tutorial Services between 2013 and 2016. He worked primarily with the Wildcat Football program, developing and implementing study plans for high-risk student-athletes in addition to coordinating student-athletes’ daily tutorial services between team practices, meetings and travel times.
He has been an active part of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals, as the Co-Chair of the President’s Advisory Committee (2023-24) and holding the Chair position for the Research Committee (2021-22). JP is a two time graduate of the N4A Professional Development Institute, Leader/Manager (2022) and New Practitioner (2016). He also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Eastern Kentucky University, teaching general education requirement courses within the exercise and sport science department until 2014.
Mr. Parham holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Louisville (2009) and Master's degree in Sport Administration from Eastern Kentucky University (2012).
JP resides in Lexington with his wife Kami and 2 children.
