Dr. Reginald R. (Reg) Souleyrette is the Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering and the Commonwealth Professor of Transportation Engineering at the University of Kentucky.  He also serves as Program Manager for Planning and Education at the Kentucky Transportation Center.  Dr. Souleyrette has over 25 years of experience in transportation education at the collegiate, post-graduate, and continuing education levels, and he currently teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in highway safety, GIS, and airport design.  He has successfully completed more than 10 million dollars of sponsored research for USDOT, State DOTs, local transportation agencies, foundations and private transportation firms, with a focus on transportation data, highway safety and railroad engineering. Dr. Souleyrette is a Fellow Member of the Association of Traffic Safety Information Systems Professionals, and a Member of both ASCE and the National Academies’ Transportation Research Board (TRB). For TRB, he is an at-large member of the Safety and Systems Users Group Executive Board and is Communications Coordinator and past Chair of its Data and Information Systems Section. Dr. Souleyrette earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas and a PhD in Civil Engineering from UC Berkeley.  He is a registered Professional Engineer in Iowa and Kentucky.
