Tom is a part-time industry specialist with the Fujio Cho Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Kentucky. He supports the Lean Systems Engineering Technology classes as a voice of industry experience and advanced knowledge with the curriculum subjects. Tom’s industry experience in the Toyota Production System Principles, Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Problem Solving, and Team Management provides students with how to apply lean system principles in the workforce.
Tom retired after 30 years with Toyota North America: Toyota Production Systems Support Center (TSSC) and Operations Management Development Division (OMDD). Experienced Senior Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the automotive industry. Skilled in Operations Management, Value Stream Mapping, Process Efficiency, Operational Excellence, Quality Management, and the Toyota Production System. Developed TPS culture within Toyota as well as non-automotive general industry, non-profits, hospitals, and government within North America.
Throughout his management career with the Toyota Production Systems Support Center (TPPS) and Toyota North America, he developed industry and non-profit organizations through improving their company capabilities and productivity based on teaching the Toyota Production System (TPS) model.
