Applications are now being accepted for the Halcomb Fellowship in Medicine and Engineering. The fellowship consists of an annual stipend of $30,000 with the option of renewal for a second year based on research progress.

Applicants must be a current graduate student in either the College of Medicine or the College of Engineering and shall have active mentors from both colleges. Applicants should also have a record of intellectual and academic achievement and leadership ability. The goal of the Halcomb Fellowship is to promote graduate students who advance research designed to benefit patients via a positive impact in healthcare.

Applicants must have one mentor each in the fields of engineering and medicine, with one typical situation involving a major professor with a faculty appointment in the College of Engineering, along with a co-mentor in the College of Medicine (or vice versa). Note that it is not required that both mentors have faculty appointments, i.e., an applicant with a mentor in industry would be eligible. Additionally, applicants whose mentors are clinicians with active partnerships and/or collaborations with industry are also encouraged to apply.
