What They Do

They invent new processes, improve existing ones and design and operate the plants and equipment needed to transform raw materials into useful products.

Chemical engineers are employed by chemical producers, petroleum companies, pharmaceutical companies, the cosmetics industry, electronics and food processors, government agencies, manufacturing plants, aerospace companies, the automotive industry, microelectronic devices and textiles.
