Anna Workman has been a driving force in UPS's technological evolution, exhibiting leadership and innovation across various business domains within UPS Technology Group since the early 2000’s.
Workman’s first job at UPS was a co-op in Air Cargo in 2002, while she was still a student at the University of Kentucky. She completed her Bachelor of Science in computer science in 2004, earning a minor in business alongside it. Since then, she has climbed the ranks in applications development at UPS, working in Customs Brokerage, Ground Transportation, Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering, and Gateway Systems, gaining a wide range of exposure to diverse technologies including legacy, cloud, and integration systems, as well as mobile implementations. During this time, Workman was the application development manager responsible for Mobile Mechanic, the platform that moved mechanics onto tablets, and is currently used by 1,800 mechanics worldwide.
Since 2020, she has served as vice president of Airline Systems, where she is responsible for collaborating with stakeholders to define strategic direction, providing guidance on project efforts throughout the software development lifecycle, and performing business planning, to most effectively innovate and support the technology behind UPS Airlines. Airline Systems includes twenty-five mission-critical applications in the crew, flight, maintenance and engineering, data analytics, fuel, and flight forward business domains. In her role, Workman has led the efforts to replace a 35-year-old crew management legacy system and deployed a configuration management system that replaced five older legacy systems.
Workman is a 2013 UPS SOAR Class graduate, a 2015 UPS Horizon Award-winner, and a 2018 graduate of the Emory University Executive Perspectives Program. She is a graduate of the Pathways Women in Leadership, CIO Executive Council, and a Certified Scrummaster through the Scrum Alliance. She is a member of the University Engagement Committee for UPS Technology Group in Louisville and the former chair of the UPS Technology Group Women’s Business Resource Group, which spans four geographies. Her high school alma mater, Presentation Academy, also honored her with a Tower Award for Women Leaders in Business, Technology, and Trade in 2021.
Workman serves her broader community through involvement at Epiphany Catholic Church in Louisville, the Metro United Way Tocqueville Society, as well as serving on the University of Kentucky Computer Science Advisory Board. She also coaches recreational cheerleading for the Oldham County Youth Football League.
Workman met her husband, a fellow UK computer science graduate, while working on a bear tracker group project in Professor Brent Seales’ class. They are the parents of three children.
Anna Workman has held several software development positions at UPS in Louisville, Kentucky, where she has worked since 2002. Currently, she serves as an Applications Development Manager in the Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering function. Previously, she has supported applications in Air Cargo, Brokerage, and Ground Transportation. In addition, Anna co‐chairs the University Engagement Program for UPS IT in Louisville, through which she reconnected with University of Kentucky’s College of Engineering.
Anna studied Computer Science at UK, graduating with her Bachelors in May 2004. During her time at UK, she served in leadership positions within the UK Chapters of the Society of Women Engineers and Phi Sigma Rho, an engineering social sorority. She also began her career at UPS during her time at UK, through the co‐op program.
Anna married another UK CS Graduate, Corey, and most of their spare time is spent with their 3 young children.
