The UK Department of Civil Engineering is hosting Civil Engineering Exploration Day (CEED). Civil Engineering Exploration Day is a one-day event where students will get an in-depth look at civil engineering and specifically, civil engineering at the University of Kentucky!
Students will see civil engineering laboratory demonstrations, hear presentations from professional engineering firms, have an opportunity to eat in one of UK’s highly-rated campus dining facilities, tour the Pigman College of Engineering complex, hear presentations on admissions and scholarships, and meet civil engineering faculty and current students.
9:30 - 10 a.m. - Check-in and registration10 a.m. - Welcome10:15 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Lab demonstrations and activities - Visiting students and guests will be divided into smaller cohorts. Cohorts rotate through various areas learning about such things as water distribution systems), structural systems, and environmental systems. Each cohort will spend approximately 35 minutes in each area.12 - 1 p.m. - Lunch at Champions Kitchen in the Gatton Student Center1 - 1:15 p.m. - Civil Engineering Department presentation1:15 -2 p.m. - Engineering Complex Tour2 - 3:30 p.m. - "Day in the life of a practicing engineer" - Cohorts rotate through presentations/displays from three industry partners.3:30 - 4 p.m. - Pigman College of Engineering presentation - Admissions, scholarships, co-ops and internships, campus housing, support services, and more.4 p.m. – Conclusion - students and guests depart
