Bailey has served as a TA for seven semesters. This spring, he was chosen by the students as the top TA in the Department of Computer Science. 


Nabil Al Aamery Receives 2020 College of Engineering Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award

As a testament to the student’s appreciation of Al Aamery’s work as a TA, he was recently voted by the students to receive the 2019-2020 Department of Civil Engineering Outstanding TA Award. 


Max Dong Receives Outstanding Doctoral Student Award

His research as part of his dissertation was on the development of green methods of fabricating polymeric membranes, their antifouling properties and applications in wastewater treatment.


Developing a Mask that Captures and Deactivates COVID-19 with Dibakar Bhattacharyya

University of Kentucky engineering professor Dibakar Bhattacharyya recently announced he had the concept and the means to develop a medical face mask that would capture and deactivate COVID-19 on contact. Now, the director of UK’s Center of Membrane Sciences, along with collaborators from two different disciplines, has received a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to make these masks a reality.


Kelly Pennell Named Director of UK Superfund Research Center

Pennell’s contributions led to UK-SRC’s recent $8.7 million grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.


Eura Shin Awarded NSF Graduate Fellowship

Shin, a 2019 computer science graduate and Lewis Honors College member from Morehead, Kentucky, will pursue research in robotics and computer vision at Harvard University.

Parsons, a former Chellgren Fellow and current computer science doctoral student from Lexington, will pursue research in robotics and computer vision at UK.


James Tyler Nichols Awarded NSF Graduate Fellowship

Nichols, a mechanical engineering graduate student from Taylorsville, Kentucky, will pursue research in aerospace engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder.


Three UK Students Awarded NSF Graduate Fellowships

James Tyler Nichols, Stephen Parsons and Eura Shin are the newest NSF fellows from the UK College of Engineering. Annually, the NSF awards approximately 1,500 fellowships from an applicant pool of over 12,000.
