The Department of Engineering Technology offers unique undergraduate engineering technology programs that bridge the gap between industry and academia with strategic partnerships and develops students’ skills to be career-ready for the 21st-century economy. Our programs are the best choice for students who want to solve practical problems and learn best when given hands-on experiences. The programs are a 2-plus-2 arrangement that allows students to earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) from the Bluegrass Community and Technical College and a Bachelor of Science (BS) from the University of Kentucky. These programs include embedded certificates and allow stackable credentials accumulated over time to provide career pathways for students. These pathways consist of a sequence of coursework and certifications that support skill attainment and employment. Students can complete studies for the B.S. ME degree at the main campus in Lexington or at the extended campus in Paducah.
The AAS and the BS degrees will be eligible for accreditation by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET.
I welcome you to visit our campus to learn more about our programs and to find out how you can engage with the university, our faculty members and our students.
Sincerely,
Nelson Akafuah
Chair of the Department of Engineering Technology
